It's been awhile

I do apologize. It seems life and time has run away with me again. In the time I have been MIA I have dealt with a Mother who just got engaged, a Sister who is retiring from the Military after a 21 year career, a Hubby that has flown outta town for work and some health stuff for me. To say the last weeks has been crazy is an under statement BUT, I love every minute of it! I hope to be back later today with some fun stuff to talk to your ear off about.

Thanks for being patient with me!

Some good ol' fashioned fun!

Over the Easter break the Hubs and I took our little family to our lake house to get away from it all. We did the traditional stuff like color eggs and do a hunt but we also did our own tradition. This started last year, and that, is fishing. The kids love being on the boat and so do I. We got them little poles and they were so stinking happy. Moments like that you wish you could bottle forever! Here's some pics from our get away.

As you can see, they had fun trying to catch a fish WHICH, we never did. Hubs said it was because he got the wrong bait. Now that we know what the fish like, we'll be pulling them in the fish basket faster than a kid eating cake! We saw some of the "wildlife" as well and I got to hike a bit while Little Miss and Mr. chilled on the shore. No one wanted to explore with me. BOO!

So what kind of things do you and yours do as traditions in your family? I'd love to hear about them.

Happy Easter

Happy Easter Y'all!

I hope you remembered why this day really is celebrated and had a few pieces of chocolate along the way. We celebrated with a huge family feast, egg hunt and service. It was truely a  blessed day!

High Kicks and Low jabs

Little Miss is girly. Anyone that knows her or has read this blog at all knows this. If it's pink, sparkles and has a Princess on it, she's gotta have it. Mermaids? Her best friend. Diamonds? Yes please! So you can imagine my complete and utter surprise when she told me she would rather take martial arts than ballet class! That convo went a little something like this:

Me. "WHAT?!?! Wait, did I hear you right? You want to take Karate over dance?"

Little Miss: "Yep."

Me: "Can I ask why?"

Little Miss:  "I already know how to dance."

Me: "OK then."

Well, can't blame me for asking right? She knew what she wanted, so after about a year of her telling me this I talked to the Hubs and we took her for a try out class today. Now, I know you saw year and thought "Goodness gracious. Makin' that poor child wait that long" but she's little and we wanted her to be about 5. Well, Can I just tell you how adorable she was?!?! She did her best, ran her heart out during warm up and she even broke a board! It was a plastic one that is pre cut but it has to be hit hard enough and she went for it. I was so proud. Her daddy was brighter than a lighting bug on a summer night!!!

The original plan was to get her lessons and the uniform and wait until her birthday in July but we couldn't do that to her. She was so happy and she went all out that we went ahead and let her start now. She squealed y'all! Straight up squealed! It was great! When we got home, I put her new uniform on her and she was so happy to wear it. Until she got hot and wanted to go outside that is.
